ordered a Custom Martin with the same specs as the DM3MD? I prefer Taylor, but just wonderin' if any of u martin guys did this

I remember someone around here posting about how they called Martin to get a price for doing that same thing. I dont remember the price, but I believe him saying something that they would do the specs up to a certain point. I guess once they realized what exaclty you were trying to do, they wouldnt want to make it. So I guess you cant make an EXACT copy, but something close.

d35 is pretty similar... if i ever got a custom martin i wouldnt design it like an existing guitar i would make my own and have my own damn signature on the 19th fret in pearl

Do they even offer African Paduak (or whatever the 3 piece back/headstock was made out of) in their list of woods?

its prob not on the list but you can request anything and they'll find it for you... for a price

i always just wanted a custom one with no dots on the fretboard. i hate them for some reason.
D-35 with no dots. I am sitting pretty,.

I like the dots, just dont like the double dots on the 7th fret.

i hate the dots too, infact i pretty much hate all inlays, except for the alvarez's where all they have is the diagonal line/diamond on the 12th,,, thats my 12er and i love it

i talked to a guy in the martin custom shop about ordering a DM3MD "clone" and he says he gets those request all the time. i cant remember the price quote he gave me tho. check with ur music store.

I'm the same way. I like the small dots on my larrivee, but I think if I ever order a custom guitar from a luthier I would go with nothing at all, except for maybe a small design on the 12th fret, but nothing else.
