good grateful dead and DMB songs for one guitar

Unread post by cclocke » Sat Feb 11, 2006 10:31 pm

hey all,

new to the board here. I play a variety of stuff including Dave and after surfing all the forums online this seems to be the place where I belong. Been playing for almost 3 and starting to get serious. Anyways, my first question is what are some good Grateful Dead songs to play by yourself on stage? same with DMB and any others you can come up with. I'm looking to increase my playlist and I tend to focus on college type crowds.

Thanks and greetings,
Chris

Welcome to dmbtabs!

It really depends on what type of songs you want to play as far as mood. Do you want to play the more recognized songs or some of the more obscure songs from the average listener?

I would say:
Crush
Say Goodbye
Fool to Think
The Stone
Bartender
Granny
Warehouse

I don't listen to too much Grateful Dead but I would imagine songs like: Uncle John's Band, Friend of the Devil, Trucking, Sugar Magnolia.

If you're playing dead, Eyes of the World is a good one. Dave's done it as well (with Tim).
