OMG that larrivee is gorgeous.

its a tough call, it looks like the martin is gonna be a dreadnaught and the larrivee looks more like an OM style martin.

Martin will be bassier, with less accessibility to the higher frets, it will sound like butter when strummed, and if you ask me, martins just feel so damn good on the lap.

if you are going to be playing with a band you might want to consider that larrivee to get that sound out there through the band.

I dont know what to tell you, they both look like great choices, both solid construction, but me personally, i'd go with that larrivee and wait to buy a martin when I can afford the D-35.

ok, last question (hopefully), ive decided on getting a larrivee, BUT, i cant decide between the lv-03 and omv-03. the only difference is the upper bout shape. is there going to be any difference between these two guitars? like volume or tone, or is just strictly a change in the look of the guitar?

the OMV is more suited towards fingerpicking. But it doesn't make much of a difference

It will effect the tone, the difference would probably not be huge though. The L may have a little more bass and volume but there are so many variables that it's tough to make generalizations. Personally, I think you'd be happy with either one.

awesome, Since you had that amount of money to spend it probably would have been hard to go wrong no matter what one you chose. :)

Congratulations from Portugal

Just wanted to congratulate you for you purchase!

I am from Portugal and I've spent 5 months searching for the best guitar for me. Both Martin and Taylor guitars are excelent. However, I prefer the "acoustic sound" of a Martin (the characteristics czech mentioned).

I've considered the 16th series too, but I managed to increase my budget and ended up purchasing a D-35.

Anyway, I've been playing my Martin for some months now and I just love it. Everything is perfect. You'll never regret your purchase, I assure you.

im in love!!! my guitar just came in (well, actually it came in about 4 hours ago, i just now stopped playin it, lol). the guitar is simply amazing. the sound, the look, the feel, all exceptional. i highly recommend the d16r to anyone looking for that "martin tone" without the martin price. ill be out of town recording a few final drum tracks with the band i just quit this weekend, but ill try to post some pics when i get back next week. thanks for all yall's help in finding my "dream guitar".
