D'Addario strings
phosphor bronze EJ16 or EJ17, which ever. they truly are the best strings on the market, overall. I mean for tone and longevity, I mean nobody can beat them. yeah, if you have toxic fingertips and make strings turn everycolor but aqua blue after 10 minutes of playing, than maybe a coated string is what you need but the coated strings do not sound as good as regular strings.
anyone else feel the same way?

i'm growing to enjoy the sound of d'addarios because elixers have been too expensive for me and i'm broke. buut...on the other hand, i like the feel of elixers more, but it's too bright and too harsh sometimes. so it's a trade-off.
oh, and ranting likes dean markleys.
just before he gets in here and hijacks everything with his markley junk.

i use d'addarios phospher bronze lights and i love them. i havent tried elixers yet tho since my local store doesnt carry them. whenever i find some ill try them and compare the two, but until then its d'addarios for me. it seems like with the d'addairos the first time you put them on the sound real "tinny" but after about an hour that goes away and they sound wonderful. maybe im weird but most people say strings sound the best/brightest during the first hour or two of playing them, but i think after that is when they sound the best imo.

well, I just changed the strings on my 12-string. took me oh a good solid hour at least. anyone want to guess on to what kind of strings they are? I'll give everyone one guess.
I'm not looking forward to changing them 3 months from now, but oh well. they sound amazing. havn't tuned it yet though and that'll probably take me more time than it did to string it up.

Get the AP GUitar Tuner. it is online and best guitar tuner ever. it'll take you ten minutes to tune up a 12er with this.gravedigger wrote:havn't tuned it yet though and that'll probably take me more time than it did to string it up.
coated strings sound more like 1-2 hour broken in strings, for their entire life! coated is more mellow and uncoated is harsh and abbrasive at first.
another way to get around that is bronze strings. not phosphur, just regular bronze. they sound a lot darker. (incidently Elixirs are bronze strings that are coated, EXP are phosphur brinze that are coated.)
