Martin Review

Unread post by Banjobach » Sun Jan 29, 2006 10:50 pm

Thats right, I'm pretty excited about it. Its the DC-16RGTE Premium. When i saw that name i thought "Holy Hell, why the long name?" It stands for Dreadnot ,Cutaway,Rosewood, Gloss Top, Electronics. And the premium thing i have no idea. This guitar is for lack of a better word "bombastic." I pretty much crapped myself when i played it with elixer phosphor bronze strings.
I'll do this in regular reviewing format
Sound: this guitar has the rich sound that its primary competetors from taylor couldnt match. I'm talking about the 310E and the 410E. I even think it dominates the 414 but thats a different body type so nevermind. At first i thought the HD-28 was the guitar for me, but its a little too bassy. The D-16 i own is one of the more balanced martins. This guitar is loud too. When its not plugged in is really sings.

Look: Its a pretty modest guitar, no flashy bullshit. Its built like a tank and sounds great. Those are the two factors i really care about.

bout all i have to say about that

Price: Ah heres the part most of you care about. I bought it for $1500. That includes case etc. My parents met me half way so technically i only payed $750. Thanks god for my parents lol. The guitar lists for about $2200 i think. So all my days working as a sandwich artist payed off.

Electronics: I decided on the fishman blender electronics over the Fishman Aura because of the mic built in the guitar. It picks up all th tapping noises and knocking on the guitar itself. So of course to test this i recorded a rough copy of Justin Kings' Knock on Wood.
Heres the Link http://www.purevolume.com/zachweidenbach

Overall: I think overall this guitar is completly awesome and i would recommend it to anyone looking for a sturdy, nice sounding guitar.

It's doable on one neck. King's played it like that.

Hey thanks for all the positive feedback. I am 16 years old. dmb66 ask what ever you want about it. So far i havent been disapointed with it at all.Sounds like a good deal to me. Glad you guys like Knock on Wood, it was a pretty sketchy recording but i was too impatient to wait and not tell everyone about this guitar. I havent tabbed the song out but batstone has and it seems to be pretty accurate. I just figured it out by watching his double neck video alot.
