Robert Randolph's tuning on Red Rocks DVD (LB)

Unread post by brian_ok » Thu Jan 26, 2006 7:06 pm

Does anyone know Robert Randolph's tuning at Red Rocks, especially on Lousiana Bayou? I don't know much about open tunings. (I assume it's an open tuning....)

thanks!

I think that's probably up there with the largest piles of bull shit ever posted on these boards.

What fucking good could the instrument do with 12 B's?

Its probably some open tuning, like DADF#AD.

I've heard of a song where all (six) strings are tuned to E. Seriously.
Evey Hammond: Who--who are you?
V: Who? Who is but the form following the function of what... and what I am is a man in a mask.
Evey Hammond: I can see that.
V: Of course you can. I'm not questioning your powers of observation, I'm merely remarking on the paradox of asking a masked man who he is.

Just because someone might do it doesn't make it any less ridiculous.

I know about the 6 E tuning, seems like something Dashboard would do.

once again, he does not play a 6 string guitar, he plays a 13 string pedal steel. It lies horizontal on a special table like thingy and he slides his little metal things all around it and sounds awesome.

I know, but I was giving an example for those who have no idea what open tunings are.
