I use transcribe http://www.seventhstring.com. You can use it free for the first 30 days but have to pay a one time fee after that. For myself it was money well spent.

EDIT: I just saw you mentioned free. So this doesn't apply I suppose.

You need audacity. It is a free recording program designed primarily to record tunes, but you can also import almost any music file, select it in its entirety, and use the effects section to slow it down. Again, this program is a free download and it is relatively small and painfully simple to use. You can download it here http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
