***The Alpine Valley Appreciation Thread***

Unread post by Dheibs » Sun Jan 22, 2006 11:30 pm

The Alpine Valley Music Theatre claims to be one of the largest outdoor concert venues in the United States. At 35,000 seats (lawn included), that assertion has merit. The theater hosts some of the biggest touring acts each year. At about 40 miles from Brew town and 90 miles from the Windy City, it's considered both a Milwaukee and Chicago stop for acts.

ATMOSPHERE

Alpine Valley is the usual outdoor pavilion/lawn concert venue. But its grounds are beautiful, and the venue resides in the middle of nowhere. Alpine Valley also has a nearby golf course and ski resort. The steep lawn incline allows for a great view no matter where you are seated in the lawn.

CROWD

Dave Matthews Band fans are among the most loyal fans in the world. From Tailgating before and after the concert. Alpine proves to be one of the, if not THE greatest concert experience you will ever have. Alot of People like myself camp out at nearby campgrounds where the drinking and partying lasts all through the night. DMB Loves this place, dave has stated this numerous times while they have played here. The crowd, the music, and the Beautiful veunue make this place a venue for the ages.

WHY IT'S UNIQUE

The sheer size of the Alpine Valley Music Theatre is intriguing. Its hilly terrain is also a change of pace. And the combination of outdoor air and big-name acts inspire you to save your ticket stub to help preserve the night's memory. And the tailgating? That word sums Alpine Valley up.

Message to DMB: The Gorge and Red Rocks have had their time in the spotlight as official releases. Alpine DESERVES one for the Great Times, Great Sets, and Great Music this venue has provided to fans. so please, FULL DVD release for 2006

I totally agree dude. I love the atmosphere. This year espicially was sweet because it was so god damn hot, and once the sun went down things cooled off and the band came on. I just dont know how The Valley stands on having its name plastered all over DVDs. I don't know, I think its one of those places that dosen't need a DVD release because that would show it to everyone who never have been there. But you and I both know that I would take much more than a DVD to show the true Alpine Valley. So if you want to experience Alpine, then go baby!

Yea that is definitely not a DMB show, especially with that being down in the pavillion. Alpine is my favorite place to see any band. That is pretty much the only stop on the DMB tour I still plan on going to. I'll never miss that one.

I agree, but just for the sake that its Alpine Valley. This venue is long overdue on an official release.

Yeah, I'm so sick of my friends who just know of DMB and them like "o Well Red Rocks and Gorge are the craziest places for a dave show, imean they got like 4 dvds, I'd love to go there"....they say this when they live in Chicago and never even heard of Alpine. That pisses me off and makes me smile cause Alpine is just a god damn jem!!

Awesome picture. That place really is pretty big, huh. I love Alpine shows. Some of the best times I've ever had. My friends and I always just go up there for the first night with absolutely no plans. We have ended up crashing at camping grounds with people we met there, ended up at some girl's beach house in Lake Geneva another year, we have even just slept in our cars and started partying again the next day. We just lose ourselves for a weekend.

I know what you mean. Ive been to shows at Gorge and the recent Red Rocks shows and i dont care what the critics/fans say, Id take a 2 night Alpine Valley stand over either of those venues in heartbeat.

i want to make it out there, my friends saw phish out there, i couldnt make the trip with them because of work. but deer creek is a really killer place to see a show too. ive seen a 2 night stand by dave there, trey band (original) and a 3 night phish stand. all great times, the campgrounds are 10 minutes from the venue, and tons of cool chill people camping.

you basically smoke, drink, go to shakedown, etc...then walk up to the venue and the bands go on as the sun starts going down. great times.

I totally agree about Alpine, the before and after the concert are better than the show, and if you think DMB is great, go to a Buffet concert up there and get wasted face with a bunch of fifty year olds wearing grass skirts...awesome!

Dheibs, you dont go to Glenbrook south HS do you?
