need help deciding on new guitar
hello all, im new to the forum and would like some help from you guys. i just recently quit my band (drummer for a death metal/grindcore band), but have been playing guitar off and on for the past 10 years or so, and am starting up my solo project again now that i have the free time for it (which is a cross between DMB and the acoustic side of Opeth). i currently play a blue ibanez aef30e-ms, and am looking at a new acoustic. i dont exactly have the cash for the super high end stuff, so im trying to decide between the Martin 000C-16RGTE, or a Taylor 314ce. what do you guys think? theres not a music store where i live that sells these, only the ones for like 4-5 grand, so i cant "test drive" these two. thanks for your help.

I'm not much of an expert on those guitars, but I can strongly suggest having a play of any acoustic before you buy it as the individual guitars often vary quite a bit. I dont buy acoustics online as a rule because of this.
Evey Hammond: Who--who are you?
V: Who? Who is but the form following the function of what... and what I am is a man in a mask.
Evey Hammond: I can see that.
V: Of course you can. I'm not questioning your powers of observation, I'm merely remarking on the paradox of asking a masked man who he is.

Dont be deceived by the famous name brand guitars. You will get a lot more for 1500 from a not so popular name, like Larrivee or Alvarez or Tak. For Martin and Taylor, you are paying for the names as well as the guitars.the eyes upon us wrote:ok thanks, ill look into those as well. though i think im pretty sold on martin or taylor. anybody else have any preferences in the $1500 range (give or take a couple hundred)?

im liking what im seeing on the larrivee's, but that isnt something that is carried period where im at, whereas the taylors and martins i can get a rough idea, they just dont carry the particular models im interested in. what would you say these guitars sound like (comparison wise against other brands)? i do alot of individual notes, and maybe medium-light strumming, so im thinking more along the lines of a auditorium style with a cutaway, but all ive ever played is cutaway dread's so im not against getting another one of those either. also, what are some good websites for buying these? ive found a couple but not having too good of luck on that. thanks again guys.

that's me ^
Awesome guitar. no longer produced though...Jumbo!!
The LV-05 would be a great guitar. I play an L-03R and a D03.the eyes upon us wrote:ok, would you guys recommend the Larrivee LV-05? or what models do you guys play/like? thanks
Additionally, you might check this link out. I need another guitar like I need another hole in my head but if I played right handed I would snatch this Lakewood up in an instant. There's also a Larrivee OM-9 listed here as well. This place has a great reputation and I think shipping is included in the price.
