Running an electric through an acoustic amp???

This is the place to talk about guitar playing not done by Dave! Topics about techniques, styles, theory, and other guitarists go here.

Running an electric through an acoustic amp???

Unread post by VoodooChile » Fri Jan 20, 2006 7:41 pm

Well my old fender frontman blew out today (ithe sound has been getting worse for about a year now) and I was wondering how decent a tone I would get running my strat through my crate acoustic amp. Basically will it do until I can save up the $ for another good electric amp or just go ahead and buy a practice amp?

Thanks

Just stick it through the acoustic until you can buy a new electric one.

I say try it, it couldn't hurt... I don't think!

It shouldn't hurt it unless you crank el fuck out of it.

That doesn't mean it will sound good, though.

I play my acoustic through my electric amp, so I cant imagine it would hurt the other way around.

So did it work, or did sound like complete crap?

I used to play my Les Paul through my Crate CA-60D acoustic amp. Best electric tone I've ever had.
