This is a song about losing someone you love and realizing (and not being able to accept) that you didn't make the most of your time with them.

I love to go out for a drive, oftentimes late at night, where I do a lot of my thinking.

Feedback is really appreciated.

Lyrics:

interstate morning
i drove all night
a numbing hum and
a crackling radio
dawn around the bend
i see the sweeping light
blanketing your face
but that was long ago

and i suppose you were right
and i suppose i was wrong
i waited much too long
to take this ride

your picture on the dashboard
won’t you speak somehow
we’re driving into nothing
and talking when it feels right
maybe we’ll exit
find a place to dine
tip the waitress well
for being so polite

and i suppose you were right
and i suppose i was wrong
i waited much too long
to take this ride
i waited much too long
to take you for a drive

ever hear of a band called Drivin' and Cryin'? Your voice sounds very much like his to me. A little Willie Nelson in there as well. I really like it a lot. Mellow and introspective. Very much the kind of music I am into. Is it just one guitar?

Thanks a lot for listening. I've gotten the Willie Nelson comment before. I personally don't hear it, but that's cool.

Yes, just one guitar. Fingerpicked the whole song.

It's not a negative thing in any way. You definately have your own voice as well. I love finger picked guitar. I have never taken the time to learn how to do it well though.

im sure plenty will be said about the music but i would like to comment on the lyrics. These are some of the most heart felt words I have heard in a song. I especially like the line:

"your picture on the dashboard
won’t you speak somehow
we’re driving into nothing
and talking when it feels right "

That is fantastic and I know exactly what you are talking about, or at least i think i do, which is all that matters.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

Thats Great Brian.

Your finger picking has come a long way since you put down the pick. Great song. As I've said before i'll listen to anything you do. Maybe even pay for it..

Very nice work on the fingerpicking.

Your voice sounds very interesting and reminds me of someone, though I don't know who right now...

Heartfelt songwriting.

This song is incredible. I also hear a little Willie Nelson in your voice, but take NO offense to that at all, it's outstanding.

The lyrics are great...the fingerpicking really puts it over the top.

I think I know what you mean. It's one of those things that you can feel, but you can't explain.

Yeah, that part of the song hit me too.

Excellent tune! Image
