If I could play the guitar as well as Dave Matthews,
you wouldn't be reading this quote right now. - DMBuds

The couple should sue, regardless, just to ensure that this crap does not go unpunished. They should sue the cruiseline and leave the band out of it.

Whether the couple overplayed their plight or not, what happened to them is not cool.

If they didnt/dont sue then they are just being a bunch of complainers. Why go public if you dont plan to do anything else about it?

i thought that wasw silly too.

I mean, you should have read over your contract and asked questions before hand. It sucks no doubt and i feel bad for them, but it is just as much their fault.

The report was way too finger pointing at DM like it was his call. how in the hell would he know. He doesn't handle these things. Just stupid all around. I'd bet a million RCC didnt say a word to management about it. who in their right mind would say, "sure, we can fit you in this day, we just have to bump this wedding. you dont care about bad publicity do you?"

Its not really the couple's fault for not understanding the contract. Who would think that a cruise line would have the nerve to dump a wedding that has booked possibly over a hundred tickets? Come on!

I think we can all agree that its the cruise line's fault. The couple was probably just advised to overplay the band's involvement (or lack thereof) in order to get more publicity, thus increasing their lawsuit payoff. As a law student myself I would've advised them to do exactly the same.

I think we need to focus on the working joe that decided to have some fun editing the news piece. Its comedy gold right there, looks like something out of the daily show.

thats why i said its party their fault. Anytime you sign a contract and dont read it over or ask questions you are a fool. I work in contracts for my company, and I have to go over about 40 contracts a day that range in deals between $10,000 to $4million. There is no way I would sign anythign without asking, "what does this mean? what constitutes this? etc..."

and Royal Caribean is just an aweful company for doing that. D&F is a one time money making venture, but they may have just ostrisized themselves from thousands of customers that can easily go to a competitor. Also, if D&F or similar bands decide to do this again, would they stay with RCC? i'd assume not. Just a horrible decision on their part.

The unfortunate thing is Dave's name is being drug into this. Odds are some person for RCC or Dave's management came up with the idea, talked to Dave about it and he agreed. It's not like he does the detail planning for this type of stuff. No way he knew they were taking a cruise line that had reservations and cancelling them to do this.

I would give RCC about 70% of the blame here and as czech said, they did sign it so they get 30% blame here. They will probably sue the cruise line and get money anyways.
