Great job, I think you should take the vocal reverb down a notch. Strings would sound great with this cover, but you did an awesome job

Thanks Kahn. I was afraid to increase the reverb more than I usually do, but I did so because I thought it would work well with the nature of the song (lyrics). Thanks again.

I agree about the strings. If anyone has an impulse to do so (strings or piano), please go ahead.

Nice job Brian. I agree that the vocal reverb is a bit too much, I'd prefer that sort be used on the guitar, but that's me. There were a few places where your timing could have been better, but it was noticable to only someone who is quite familiar with the song.

Great feedback, thanks. I agree about the reverb on guitar only. However, I always record vocals and guitar at the same time. I try to do separate tracks, but just can't get into it. Something I just need to force myself to do and work on because I think it can be beneficial at times (such as now). Also, I just learned this tune so I'm still working on getting completely comfortable with the timing. I was wondering if that was apparent, so I really appreciate that comment. Thanks for listening.

I know what you mean about the separate track thing, it's really hard for me as well. I just really play better when I'm singing (groaning) at the same time.

GJ QT, LOL.

I didn't mind the reverb as much as everyone else. Everything sounded really good. The only thing I noticed was when you sang the word "blackest" it was kind of off.

nice job

Excellent cover, you did a great song justice. Was this fingerpicked? I know Ben Gibbard uses a pick and he gets a little more rhythmic feel to the song but i like the way your cover is a litle more airy and drifts if that makes any sense. I think its a combination of the reverb and the fingerpicking.

Great job, beat me to this song

On a side note, i have been searching for a good "What Sarah Said" tab but the ones i have found do not sound right.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

Brian, you are one of the few people whose recordings I download religiously. This one was great as always. I didn't mind the reverb so much on the vocals like some other people did. I would love to hear you record 311's "Use of Time"...which you might find strange, but I think your voice would fit that song perfectly.

I'm a self-taught guitarist and I play holding the pick with my thumb and index finger and fingerpick with my other three fingers. Not sure if this is a correct technique or even commonplace. So it's sort of a mix.

I'm glad you noticed my cover is more "airy" and "drifts" more than the original. I think good covers are the ones that don't sound exactly the same as the original except for a different voice. Thanks for commenting on that.

Thanks again to everyone for the comments. Speen, would you mind PMing me that 311 song?

Its on the way...and your picking technique is somewhat common. I know both guitarists from UM play that way on certain songs.
