You hear yourself through your jaw canal. It's not as deep as your normal voice. That's why you always sounds different on a recording than when you hear yourself talk. There is a mic in the earpiece. Kinda cool if you ask me.

That black pad on the ground in front of Dave's mic stand activates the main mic when he steps on it.

I hate the way my voice sounds when I hear myself speak on a recording. Is this the norm?

i hate my voice on recording too...is that what you sound when other people hear you?

yes, unfortunately. I always thought i had a good voice, but then i heard it on a video camera recording and thought to myself "what the hell"

That activates the mic he sings into, not his IEM mic, just so you know.
