Satellite?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Satellite?

Unread post by DmbFanJason » Sat Oct 05, 2002 1:18 am

I was just looking at the tab for satellite...On the "Rest high above the" part,

E:----4----3------------
B:----4----4------------
G:-8--5----5----6----6--
D:-8--6----5----6----6--
A:-6--6----3----4----4--
E:-6--4-----------------

I always thought that he played the first chord like ---------
---------
----8----
----8----
----6----
---------
without the 6 on the low E string...

I don't know, could be wrong...Anyone want to leave their feedback?

P.S. Thanks again Jared!

While I always entertain new ideas for tabs, I do not personally agree w/ that change. It probably isn't wrong because all you would be doing is taking away the bass note so the main sound in the power chord would be there but if you see Dave's fingers when he moves from the 4-6-6, he moves his 1st finger up to the top string to play the note. Play whatever you sounds best, I'm just providing guides for everyone....enjoy

I was curious as to what video you are looking at jkanter....and if you insist that his index finger moves up to the 6th string, do you think the chord might be something like this:

----------
----------
----8-----
----8-----
----x-----
----6-----

Just a thought, I have never seen him play a chord like the one that is posted; this one would seem more real in my opinion...so tell me what you think...peace!

I understand what you say when you mention he might just play the E String and mute the A. If you look at Cryptorchid, he plays the chord I have posted. I know he plays this with the E and A strings because when Dave plays that chord, he brings his middle finger up stiff and pushes it next to his 1st finger. He does this to help fret the A string becuase he has to bar the top two strings. As for the video I am looking at, I don't remember exactly which one I was looking at...but you can kind of see it on the beginning of the storytellers. I believe the main video I looked at was Lorelei 95. I don't know for sure though. Anyway, obviously play what you want, I am just showing what I see Dave playing.....peace

B:----------4------------
G:-8--5----5----6----6--
D:-8--6----5----6----6--
A:-6--6----3----4----4--
E:----4-----------------
