Again another newbie two step question...

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Again another newbie two step question...

Unread post by JustanItalianWanderer » Sat Dec 17, 2005 7:38 am

Hi this is my first post and I got to say these boards are mighty useful for learning dave's song....
I've been practicing two step for quite some time now, I've downloaded some of the audio samples some of you made on it, I've read and reread strumming hints you gave and things like that, but still I can't manage to pull off the strumming exactly like dave does.
Maybe some of you can give me some -really- useful hints on how to get it? I know this has been asked quite some times but still I'm missing something  Thx!

I've heard him do it a couple of different ways. You can do it with a bass-chord type of strumming pattern. Another way you can do it that sounds good is to do a double mute then fret the chord on you 3rd stroke.

As others have said, listen to D&T and play along. It will come to you.

Actually my grandmother's swedish, so suit yourself...
Anyway yeah, I was trying the bass chord strumming pattern, guess I'll just have to practice till my fingers bleed...

You have to listen to it alot without playing along with it, because often when you are playing along with it you blast out the audio and cannot detect mistakes you might be making. When I want to learn a song, I am always listening to it when I am walking to classes or working out.

Never stop that strumming hand...keep it constant and the rythm will come from hours of practice.
