if they re-recorded studio songs,,,,,,,,,,,

Unread post by paulaitchison » Fri Dec 16, 2005 9:41 am

i almost always prefer to listen to live versions than studio, the songs tend to develope and evolve on the road and get better with time or just be a bad studio effrort.
i find warehouse, fool to think, everyday and you never know so much better live and and there is little doubt that the summer04 songs like sugar will, joy ride and hello again could be a little less baston

if say they realised a "best of" where they re recorded all songs but more "one great take" style than studio layering, which 12 songs would you like to hear "tried again"

me.......

fool to think
jimi thing
dancing nancies
helo again (electric guitar?)
raven
two step (but keep the intro)
a proper watchtower.
too much
sleep to dream her (it got to be better)
help my self
pig
rhyme and reason

i wouldnt touch pig with a ten foot pole.

I think it is recorded to perfection.

I'd like Hello Again re-recorded with the drum solo.
And itd be interesting to hear Last Stop with the reprise intro attached.

i alway liked the older versions where there was less violin at the start.,,,, yeah last stop would and could be better without the cell phones and with the reprise.,,,,,, just let bela and tim break loos for 5 min, it always sounds great.

definatley. far and away the best studio recording they've ever done.
hosting the oscars is like winning the heisman trophy. no matter how you do in the ballgame, or whatever, they can't take it away from you. and even if you kill your wife and an ex-waiter, they still have a hard time taking it away from you

i wouldn't re-record jimi thing either. i personally really like the raw sound it has. i love that you can hear dave changing postitions over the fretboard and such.

I agree with Warehouse and Fool to Think. I would have FTT be Dave Solo and Warehouse D&T. I would also add Bartender. The album just can't possibly do justice to live performances with the Band or D&T when he is wailing at the end.

I don't know, the LWS version is still my favorite over any live version, even 4.7.02

the lws bartended could do with more of an intro. they seem to go straight into it. but half way through it is great. i prefer the busted version.
busted stuff of busted stuff is not as good., captin is ok, but lws kicks ass.
the scream 2 version of help myself is pretty adverage.

I think that's pretty much unavoidable.
