Damn... that really sucks I loved mxtabs.net. I was wondering what happened to it lol.

If this site gets shut down there will be chaos in the streets of Howell, New Jersey.

I hope it wont get shut down. The people who run this site should know that tabs, especially these tabs, are not at all illegal. Also I bet Dave would be pissed that a huge fan site based on learning his songs and trading videos and what not was shut down because people think its illegal.

It's all because of those damn pirates stealing music! They get all stingy with anything that could even slightly infringe on copyright laws in music now adays!

If I am to play a Dave Matthews Band song for my own enjoyment, I am infringing on no copyright laws.

Actually......if you buy the cd, then you buy rights to the songs on the cd. So as long as you own the cd it DEFINITLY isnt illegal. But I dont think it should be illegal either way (tabs and lyrics i mean).

this is ridiculous...i don't know how people can be so greedy to the extent that they are taking away fans' opportunities to idolize their favorite musicians, to try and learn their songs, and basically to just enjoy the music. i could even see tabs helping music sales if someone only knew one song by an artist and decided to learn how to play it, got interested in that person's music, and went out and bought some CDs. fuck the almighty dollar. i hate lauren keiser.

and if this site gets shut down...some people are getting roundhouse kicked in the face...thats all im sayin.

I have a hard time believing they could shut down a site like this. These tabs are interpretations of the songs and aren't note for note replications of the artists work.

I here soon they are gonna be people walking around campsites charging you for playing a bands song around a campfire and charging your friends a listening fee for listening to it :D.

If someone has the ability to tab something out by ear, and feels compelled to share what they play with others, I see no reason why not.

OH!

And what about the people that don't put lyrics in their album cover booklets? Why give lyric websites crap? It's not like they do anything that takes away from CD purchases.

I do not support the music industry at all. They suck.
actually, unless i'm mistaken, this is technically illegal already

I think it's technically legal as long as you say who it's by, but still...it's practically legal now anyways. I mean the RIAA isn't gonna come knocking on your door for playing Let It Be.

Watch it get to the point where you have to pay a fine for humming a song on the street.

I'm pretty sure its legal to play any song you want as long as you don't claim it as your own. If you play it live and its not recorded in any way, there is no problem.
