computer software

Unread post by Duffman » Mon Dec 12, 2005 12:15 pm

my parents want a present for my little brother, so they were thinking of getting him some sort of computer software for his guitar. my dad knew of one for his piano (cake walk i think?) that could wirte the music out as you played it, so that was pretty cool. but what computer programs do you guys have or reccommend?

I've used Cakewalk Guitar Tracks, it's a decent program, simple, but it gets the job done. Currently I use Cool Edit Pro, another great program, a bit more complex than Guitar Tracks, but well worth it. Cakewalk Home Studio is good, again, complex, and I guess it's a bit pricey, I have no idea. I love my Cool Edit Pro, but Cakewalk products are supposed to be very good. Good luck.

I use Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro. Its not too simple, but not so complex as to be impossible to figure out either. Thats what I use for all of my recordings.

Cool Edit 2.0 is pretty easy but I think Adobe bought them out.

Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro, has 30 tracks with tons of effects. You can even download DirectX plugins for it too if you want. It has cut and paste, fade, pan, pretty much anything wanted/needed for amateur recording. Its only $80 too.

Instead of creating a new thread on a topic that is brought up again and again, I decided to just revive an old one. I'm looking for a decent program to edit, master and add effects to tracks I've recorded with my digital multitrack. I'm torn between these two:

Does anyone have any experience with either? I know the Sonar 6 just came out, but maybe some people out there have experience with some of the previous versions.

Thanks all!

You might want to think about Samplitude. It's a solid program for about $50.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check that one too. Anyone else have any experience with the ones I mentioned?
