Keyboard help
Keyboard help
I wasn't sure if i should put this in music gear or other instruments, but i figured the people that visit this forum would know more about it than the people in music gear.
anyway, i'm going to ask for a keyboard. i'm a beginner player, but i know a little bit. i want one w/ 60 or 70 keys. they come in what, 61 or 76? i want it to be decent, but since i'm not buying it i really don't want to set my parents out too much money. so i'm also looking for a decent deal.
if you guys know of anything let me know. i don't need a million different bells and whistles. but i'd like it to have good piano sound, maybe some cool rhythm effects and be good enough that i'm not going to want to get another one once i get better.
any help is appreciated.

i've been itching to teach myself piano for the last few months..i went into the basement and dug out this shitty 40-key keyboard that we obtained years ago somehow but it's busted..my dad thought it needed a new a/c adapter so i went to radioshack to test one out and it didn't work. so then him and i took it apart just to screw around with it and mess with the parts for fun. we pretty much knew from the start it wasn't going to work..i think we really just wanted to disect it. oh well. christmas isn't far!

I dunno what the price range is but I would suggest a digital piano with all 88 rather than a keyboard with bells and whistles if you are planning on learning piano. At least get something with weighted keys.

well. i should be getting whatever it is my parents got for me tomorrow. i told them minus the bells and whistles and just get a good digital piano. if it happens to come w/ some beats or some other instruments, that's cool, but i really only want it to learn how to play. and i told them to either get 76 or 88 keys. it'll probably be a keyboard w/ a whole shit load of effects on them, they seem to be cheaper than the nicely made digital pianos.

Thanks for the shoutout. Anyway, I would say to anyone who is not just starting with the piano on a whim, but is seriously planning on sticking with it, that your chances of success grow exponentially the more the keyboard feels like a real piano. So my advice would be to get weighted keys. For beginners 76 keys is ok, for the first few years. Go on craigslist and search it every day and I guarantee (depending on where you live) you'll be able to find a keyboard with weighted keys for ~400... which is a good investment considering you'll be using this thing for a long time.bpongo09 wrote:ask that benpezzner guy who did the amazing #41 piano
