weird sound.

Unread post by Grachi » Sat Dec 03, 2005 10:41 pm

When I play the 4th string at like the 5th and 6th fret, the guitar sounds distorted or like you are hearing it underwater. Especially if you play like the 5th and 6th string with it. It's like somehow the bass gets really fuzzy on my guitar at that point.

the thing is, my guitar has never done this before because I have played around in those positions (i first noticed it when playing the first chord to What Will Become of Me, so that gives u an idea of a chord it sounds like that on) and it has never done this before.

Could this be bad strings? something wrong internally with my guitar? Mind you it is an acoustic so its not plugged in or anything I'm talking just acoustic it's natural sound is doing that all of a sudden for some reason.

Any suggestions? Again its never done this before... and its only around that position give or take a fret each which way that it makes that sound.

The only other thing i could think of is my neck/fretboard could be like messed up or something like maybe i need to fix the truss rod? But i wouldn't know why this would be necessary I keep the guitar in good condition.

Do you keep your guitar humidified at all? Mine started doing that last year about this time and I took it in to get looked at and they set it up for me and told me the humidity did it, and that I should get a humidifier for it.

Could be bad strings, or you might not be in tune.

I wouldnt adjust the truss rod until you know thats what it is.

edit: I replaced the strings today... No luck. Now I'm worried my guitar is damaged in some way. Thing is i've never dropped it, havent even banged it doesnt have a knick on it honestly...

I'm going to take it in as soon as I can and see what they say.
