There are 5 different DVD formats, all vying to be the standard.

DVD-R
DVD-RW
DVD+R
DVD+RW
DVD-RAM

Which format you request depends on which format your DVD player can read. Will has a link to a site that tells which players support which formats, but it looks like that site is down right now.

Also, App, make sure you sign up the exact way he said to do it, otherwise will will skip you and you won't get it. Edit your post to get this:

Your name -- Your email
-R (or +R depending on which one your player supports)

Hmm.. Xbox *should* play some format of DVD's. I know my PS2 plays DVD-R's, I've never tried +R's. Let me look around for a bit.

Well, I guess not.
Note: The Xbox game system does not support compatibility with recordable CD or DVD media.

That's Microsoft for you.

All right, that sounds good. I found another website that says that Microsoft used 3 different suppliers for the DVD-ROM drives, and which one you got determines which formats and brands it can read.

The biggest thing is to use high-quality media. Maxell, TDK, Verbatim are all good. Stay away from Memorex, Imation, Fuji (the new ones aren't made by Taiyo Yuden anymore), generic brands.

Hmmm... I don't know. You say you've found a place that says it supports -R and +R, right? If so, then either one should be okay. I prefer -R, because it has the highest compatibility (right now at least).

That sucks, I just bought a spool of 100 imation for all of my movies on my hard drive.
