Looking for a decent recording software
I'm getting confident enough with my playing now to try recording a bit, unfortunately I have no idea about software. I was wondering whats some good software that isn't priced too high. Also with copyright suits flying all over the place I don't want to use Blazaa to get Cool Edit Pro or something like that. So if you could give me the names and prices of a few, that would be great. Thanks

Simple to use, short learning curve = pluses.Cor wrote:Why don't you like Cakewalk, TB? I admit, I don't like Sonar's interface, but GTpro was simple to use, and learn.

Pretty lackluster features, bad interface as you said, not very powerful, had quite a few bugs back when i used it... why would you fork over $100 for a program like that?
Fair enough... Does the trick for me.TrippnBill686 wrote:Simple to use, short learning curve = pluses.Cor wrote:Why don't you like Cakewalk, TB? I admit, I don't like Sonar's interface, but GTpro was simple to use, and learn.

HELL yes. hands-down best thing on the market for the price. I was going to buy one a while back, but then ran into problems preventing me from doing so. I have seen it go for $400, but that's rare. $450 is pretty standard.patrickw25 wrote:if you're willing to spend a little more money, I highly recommend Digidesign's M-Box which come with ProTools LE. I run mine through a Powerbook G4 and the M-Box is as simple an interface as I've come across and the ProTools is great. It will, however, cost you $500.

to give you an idea of the quality of recording you can get with the M-Box, click here http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/416/habit_ajm.html all the songs titled NY Demo and Flashback (I apologize for the fucked up reverb on Flashback, I accidentally did a destructive edit and we didn't feel like redoing it). btw, this isn't my stuff, its some friends of mine. We did this at my apartment, guitars straight into the M-Box, vocals in my closet with a shure sm-58, nothing else. Sounds pretty good, all things considered, huh?? with M-Box you can get really professional sounding recording.
