How close do most of yall put your mouth to the microphone? I am about 1 foot away when I sing, and if I get closer it kinda makes a weird noise because it's too long...just wondering how close you guys sit to your mics.

I always get right up to my mic. Not eating it, but just getting really close. For this mic, in this setting, the closer the better.

yeah, like when you wail, watch dave, he moves his head away from the mic so it doesn't clip.

Yea, if you really wanted to balance out the sound levels, get a condenser mic..

The closer you get to the mic the more bass you're gonna get on the recording, when you wail lean back a few inches...

"I'm one of those singers that feels they have to keep their mouth on the microphone in order to be heard. [TBill's comment: You look like you're making out with a Shure.]"

An inch or two for me. And increasing your distance on the wails is good advice. It becomes natural after a while.
