Mutes on OSW Main Riff

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Mutes on OSW Main Riff

Unread post by TheGuyThatJaneLikes » Thu Nov 17, 2005 5:02 pm

Just a quick question:

I've never been able to get comfortable rhythm going on the main verse riff of OSW. It seems to me like I just can't transition easily between the quick strumming mutes to the go around.

Am I supposed to me muting the strings with my fingers or palm muting?

Thanks.

Mute with fingers. Thats pretty much how Dave mutes most of his songs.

To add to what he said, when you do the slide do it with you pinky and ring and then barre mute with your pointer finger.

Thanks, I'm getting the hang of of it now. My problem was that I was overcompensating for my small hands and muting with all of my fingers instead of just barreing with the pointer.

One Sweet World kicks ass, one of my top favorite songs.
The best way to learn any dave song is to watch a video of a dave solo version, that way its more of a training video. I learned all my dave songs from him, off videos.
