Guitar and cold weather (outside performance)

Hmm, i live in new england, its pretty damm cold, so if i perform with my guitar outside for like an hr or something, would it be damaged? how do i avoid this? is the issue the coldness or the humidity? should i get one of those humidity control thing? since its gonna be dryer?

i think your main problem can be cold checking which is when u take your guitar outside too fast. the wood will shrink faster than the finish which can lead to wavy, cloudy looking lines or even cracks in the finish. i would check out the taylor guitars website, they have some excellent articles on this and temperature changes with your guitar. if i have time i will post some links later to help. maybe someone else knows some remedies right off.

It is good to leave the guitar in the case for a while to let it cool down slowly. Same thing for when you bring a guitar inside, let it sit in it's case for a while before opening it so the temperature and humidity change is less dramatic.

This isn't a total solution but it does help prevent possible damage.

That's the consensus. And if you have a Tak G series, it's not all solid wood. They're great guitars, I have one myself, but they aren't solid, most have solid tops.
