I've steadily lost interest since they fired lillywhite. I think I'd still be stoked on them if they put out stuff that was up to par with their first albums, but the plain fact is that they're just not as good. I haven't purchased an album since btcs, and I didn't even go to a dmb concert this summer...first time in years and years that I haven't. I've been told I didn't miss much by some people I trust.

I still throw on d&t/old dmb about 50% of the time though.

i think you're missing part of the evolution of DMB. true, the album isnt' that good, but the live versions are very good...most of them

and to say that you havn't purchased an album since BTCS.....i dont know what to make of that

everday isn't a bad album by far...the live versions are very good, and there are quite a few sonts off of it that are good....what you are, fool to think, so right, etc.

so do you not approve of those....or have you just not bought the albums, and why not.....

i'm not saying you have to, i'm just curious as to why, becuase everyday is okay, busted stuff is pretty good, and SU is at least okay.

For me its
R2T = very good
UTTAD = great
Crash = great
BTCS = Unreal
LWS = Was on its way to being unreal
Everyday = awful
BS = uninspired
SU = horrendous
They have been on a steady decline in the quality of studio albums since 2000, they need another killer studio effort soon or else I think a lot of us aren't going to pay near as much attention to them as we do now.

UTTAD = Classic
Crash = Awesome
BTCS = Masterpiece
Everyday = Solid
Busted Stuff = Mellow, but good.
Stand Up = Breezy, light and forgettable

All are above 70% of the music that's out there today, just some more so than others.

I don't think the albums are worth purchasing, plain and simple. They're not horrible, but I don't think they're worth owning. At best we've got a couple new albums with 3 or 4 decent songs, and the rest is filler imo. I wouldn't buy any other cd for 3 good songs with a bunch of "meh" filler. DMB doesn't get a pass for that from me. Busted stuff had some great songs, but it was a huge letdown for me cause they come off as void and uninspired when compared to the more emotional LWS recordings. At least I think they do. I mean, SU isn't even that old, and how many of you guys still give it regular spins? It wasn't that way for their first 4.

Live, I think the new songs aren't bad. But bottom line, I'd still rather hear just about any song from 2000 or earlier before any song from later than 2k though. Couple that with the fact that for 2 people to see dmb it's going to cost $130, and I'm not that amped on going to a show. Plus it seems to be a lot harder to get good seats like I used to, and I refuse to see them from any further back than about row 25 or so. After you get close, you can't go back. :)

I still listen to them and dig them, but mostly d/t stuff and older dmb shows.

I wish you were being sarcastic.

My dmb collection consists of "crash" and about 20 mixed dave and tim songs.. also a few d&t shows i got from the trading forum, and listener supported. I couldn't have gotten truely sick of them.. I haven't even heard everything. However, I'm not really on a spree to hear every dave matthews band thing out there.

I guarantee I could name 100 bands that have more than 5 good songs. As for if Id want to try thats a different story. Its all opinion anyway, maybe youd think half the bands suck. Or maybe you just have a very narrow music interest, cuz I know I could think of 100 different bands that have 5+ good songs.

Just went through my iTunes and wrote down every band I like that has 5+ good songs IMO, turns out there 108 there, and I left off plenty of rap in case you dont call it "music" So add on 20+ more if were counting rap.

I dont feel like I need to justify my comments to you, just kind of actually felt like doing this. You might not agree, musical taste is all opinion, but just because you cant name 100 bands you like with 5+ good songs doesnt mean someone else doesnt have a musical library that big.

I think this is probably one of the best points made on this whole complaining about DMB not being good anymore.

I really think as devoted listeners we are really spoiled. I mean to think that this band has had entire albums that were good and not just songs is really saying something.

I'm not going to get on a big rant here because I don't feel like it but basically I think we set really high if almost unrealistic expectations for the band sometimes. I mean give them a break. Look at what they have done so far. It is amazing compared to the majority of bands, especially today, who only come out with like 1 or 2 CD's . I know how good the band is and natural talent doesn't just go away, so that is good enough for me. If they come out with a few band albums, so what, they'll come out with some more great ones too in the future. No one is perfect.
