I'm not sure whether this is a bug with the boards or if it's my browser (firefox), but whenever I read a thread, then go back to the forum, the thread is still marked as unread even when nobody posted in it. It's only a problem with a few threads, like the "Louisiana Bayou Intro" in Dave's guitar or "The Bass Tabs List" in other instruments.

Are you clicking back on the browser or clicking the link to go back to the forum index? It makes a difference.

That's a bug with regard to cookies on Firefox's part - what version are you running?

You've used Macs too long, you only need F5 to refresh.

A Ctrl+F5 is a "hard refresh", it doesn't pull anything from the cache, which a regular refresh does.

I've been seeing this quite a bit across seemingly random threads. I'm running FF 1.5 (OSX of course).
