The so called 'Dave Style'

Unread post by adrianosr » Sun Sep 21, 2003 8:49 pm

Hi everybody!
I was watching an African Music documentary and I was very surprised to discover that the so called 'Dave Style' is actually very common in African folk music (not all countries, off course)!!
It's amazing! The jams, the strumming, the chords... it's all there!! they even played a song that had the same chorus as typical situation (not the lyrics, of course), and not just the guitar!!
So, here's a piece of advice: Try to hear some of that, although it isn't very easy to find around the net, it's totally worth it!!

I wouldn't be suprised, although he lived there in his younger years he probably soaked up a bit of that.

Dave listens to anything and everything, including worldbeat, so it's no surprise to see a similarity like this. He did spend a few years growing up there, so, yes, the influences probably have stuck.

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.
