It sounded amazing though.

Its crazy how much better anything I played sounded on that D41, I felt like I was suddenly a better guitarist just because that thing fucking sang. It was A-MA-ZING!
I played that same guitar at Guitar Center, and I know exactly what you mean...I wasn't sure I was awake...I can't imagine what some of those guitars dave play are like!

You mean the one I played wasn't as nice? Or you didn't actually like it the one you played? You could be right, cuz every single guitar is different, all I know is I've never played one like it before

Question...I recently put a bone saddle on my guitar, and I seem to be breaking more strings...is there supposed to be an advantage to the bone saddles?

jeez. No, what I said was the guitars that Dave play with probably arent as good as a D41 Special.

Did you install the saddle yourself or somebody else? Theres a good chance it wasnt sanded down correctly, causing an uneven balance on the strings. Just curious, where did you get your bone saddle from?

http://guitarsaddles.com/

As for an advantage, it will add more low end, clarity, balance and sustain. I consider it a "swiss knife"; its good for flatpicking but also fingerpicking. FWI is geared more towards fingerpicking (cedar tops). It will do everything bone will do, but just a little more (adds more high end). If you're happy with the sound of your guitar, stick the bone. If you're looking to liven it up, go with the FWI

And, yes I couldnt be happier with the Martin

Yea I was getting an under saddle pickup installed at a shop called the "Guitar E.R." and he put the bone saddle in during that time, I didn't do it myself... think I should take it back and tell him to do it right lol? But I definately love the sound ive been getting out of it since that time so I think Ill definately stick with the bone

but your probly right that its uneven because its always my G or D thats breaking

Guitar ER out in Lombard, IL!??! If thats the same place I'm thinking of, I cant believe it. Doug Braun owns it; nice guy, he helped out with the first SST alot and when I had the Epiphone version. Ya, just say you want the saddle shaved down a little because of the strings breaking and ask him to check the action. If you still have troubles and your around the Chicago area, head over to Third Coast Guitars http://www.thirdcoastguitar.com. Cant say enough how good they are. Cheers!
