Taylor 714 arrived today

Unread post by EnFuego » Tue Oct 18, 2005 8:40 pm

Well, I finally decided on a new instrument and ordered it today from Elderly's in Michigan. It seems to be pretty unpopular on this forum, but I loved the ones I played. I am getting a new Taylor T5 Standard with spruce top, black finish. It won't be hear for another week or so (it is supposed to be delivered to them this Thursday and then they check it and set it up, then send it to me with no punks on the showroom ever touching it). I'm pretty excited for it.

Yeah, I've played 2 hear at guitar center, and hooked them up to both acoustic amps and electric amps and get a great sound out of both. I was originally looking at getting an electric like a fender strat american, but I played this and loved it everytime I played it. I ordered it from Elderly b/c they have one coming in on Thursday so is won't even hit the floor (no 12 year olds scratching and denting them like at GC, and the GC near me now only has a custom, not the standard anymore. I'll post pictures of it when I get it.

i hate it when people who can hardly play, or dont know how to treat a guitar always reach for the most expensive ones to try out there a, e, and d chords.

Congrats on the purchase, I have been anxious to give one of these a spin but I haven't seen one around here anywhere. I look forward to seeing the pics and hearing a couple of clips...

well, i decided to go another route. I had put a refundable deposit on the guitar, but its on backorder and they don't know when it will get in. The more I think about it, I think I will give Taylor some more time to find problems, etc with the T5 (being a new instrument, and seeing the problems that they had with the ES system when it first came out), I think I am going to look for something else. I found a nice 714-LTD cocobolo with cedar top that is stunning. I am looking into this now.

I would go for it! It has a bunch of nice upgrades, like the FWI saddle (perfect for cedar top guitars), Capt. Bill's cocobolo tuners and the iMix system.

Well my new guitar came today. It has amazing bass (expecially for a small body taylor). I couldn't be happier with it. It is the one picture like 2 posts above. I might throw up some new pictures later, and try to get a sound clip. It has a few ncie upgrades, and a really nice LR Baggs IMix pick-up on it.

That is beautiful! Congrats on the purchase....post more pictures and a clip or two. I have been considering trading my 314ce limited for a 714ce. There is one at the GC here that sounds great but it has been beat up pretty bad in the show room.

How does it hold up to "heavy" strumming...I have heard others say that a cedar top is best suited for finger picking? I would like to hear your opinion on this once you have spent some time with yours.

Congrats again...
