"For A Friend" -possibly my finest work
This is a solo venture that I finished recording last night. Feedback is appreciated as always.

i love the guitar part. absolutely love it. but w/ the words it kind of reminds me of proudest monkey.
your voice is really good but you don't venture much at all. no real highs or lows. you do better in the chorus. and you hit the notes strong too. nice harmonies at the end too.
i really like the second guitar part. the lead part. it adds a lot to the song. but it seems a bit off in the parts right after the verses.
i really like it man. it's a keeper. great job.

i believe it should be hTTp and not hXXp. I couldnt open it until i changed it. Other than that, vocals sound good, seems like your holding back a little in the beginning but the chorus (i think its the chorus) really shows you have a good voice, Especially towards the end. Also, the guitar sound great! This tune will be stuck in my head for a while. Great quality recording.AdamCU81 wrote:This is a solo venture that I finished recording last night. He did that so that the link doesn't expire. If more than a couple of people click on a direct link from dmbtabs, yousendit catches on and expires the link or worse bans linking from here like they have done with ufck.castellar wrote:i believe it should be hTTp and not hXXp. Thanks for listening guys!
Apps, I know the vocals are a little bland...that's why I added the screaming harmonies toward the end. Playing live, I'll have to sing more dynamically to keep it interesting. And you're right about the transitions being a bit rough. This was recorded fairly quickly....in fact, the vocals and main guitar were recorded as one track and I wasn't satisfied. So I added on all the other guitar parts.
I see how this can be compared to proudest monkey, but I think the 7/8 time in the verses makes it different enough.
I'm working on some new solo stuff and I'll definately post it when it's recorded. Thanks again for the positive comments!

i like it, but the first time i listened to it, every time you went from guitar part one to guitar part two (to the strumming) i couldnt help but thinking the transition was rough. your tone on the strumming parts sounds like xavier rudd, which is awesome i think. i also like the second guitar. i can also see where apps thinks the words remind him of proudest monkey, but im not sure if i would have thought that if he hadnt mentioned it

Not bad. I liked the "message in a bottle" sounding intro. The two guitars at 2:20 are great. All in all, guitar was good. I personally can't stand your voice. Not sure if it's the way you're singing. I'd have to hear some other stuff of yours to draw conclusions. But, obviously others liked it.
Hope to hear some more.
