Unread post by dpresti » Tue Nov 01, 2005 5:12 pm

okay so i have a apple powerbook g4 with garageband.. my band and i have gig the night before thanksgiving and we wanted to record the show if possible.. we will be playing through our amps and then out from a PA obviously..

cant i just hook up my laptop into the PA so that it will record it that way?

There are a number of ways. From the mixer, run an output to your laptop directy, using an adaptor; 1/4"->1/8" (mic jack) or RCA to 1/8".
You could get a USB or Firewire box to which you could connect an XLR out or anything else and record on the laptop via USB/Firewire.

I've recorded my friends band running a line out straight in the lap top using a 1/4" adaptor and it worked fine. You just might get a little hiss with it though but it shouldn't be too bad.
