CLAPTON IS GOD

Unread post by jkanter » Thu Oct 27, 2005 3:05 pm

...discuss...

My take...I saw him play with Cream Monday night and all I can saw is WOW. JUST WOW...Clapton playing blues is one of the best things I've ever heard live

He's pretty good, but I feel that his songwriting is lacking. I'd prefer SRV, Keb' Mo, or Buddy Guy over Clapton.

i love clapton too ... his blues is just great! but i'd rather listen to the old clapton than the new ... the essential is, he plays the guitar like a moth*rfu¢kin' God!!!

his songwriting from a musical standpoint (chord progressions, etc) is up there as possibly the best. and hes just flat out good. hes got a better voice than most of the guys who people consider to be top 5 guitarists of all time (hendrix page allman king etc) but he is amazingly good and there isnt any doubt about it.

id put him tied for 2nd

Yes

I just call him "The Boss"

...because he owns everyone.

Many more guitarists can put more notes in a beat than he can, but that is not what counts. There is something about his guitar lead that is........something.........awsome, which is why he is the greatest guitar player of all time imo. If I could have only one other guitar player in the world on stage with me at one time, it would be clapton. I would then proceed to play some easy bland chord progression and sit back and watch him play lead and take it to places like no other.

CLAPTON IS GOD

Anyone who disagree must listen to the 13 minute live verison of steppin' out with cream you will be changed, you come out of it going "hendrix who?" I saw clapton the summer before last and it was the best concert i've ever been to, and he's playing on the cream reunion DVD is the best i've heard him play in years.

i no longer like him, i went to see him a while ago, and he was so off his face he spent the whole show with his back to the audience, and then started swaring at us...they even had to get some other guys to play the lead because he was so far gone he couldn't play it himself.

i've learned a lot about songwriting from him. even thought he doesn't write a lot of the stuff he sings. and though it may not show up in my writing, i've learned shit loads of chords and progressions from him. he's in my top 3 of artists period.
