Recording Help with cool edit 2.0

hey, i reformatted my comp// so i got cool edit 2 back today... and i want to record line in iwth a quater inch jack... wat color do i put it into in the back of the comp? it seems that no matter where i put it i get no sound out of the speakers at all!!... and not only that, i Have set it up in the windows recording mixer thing.... any help is appreciated

Stick it into your microphone jack, which might be blue?

The problem might be that you dont have your microphone settings turned on or up.

Go to your volume icon in the bottom right task bar, go to OPtions, hit properties. You will see Recording & playback. Choose recording.
Once you do that a box will open up with your microphone settings. Make sure that Microphone is selected and turned up at least halfway.
