The latest acquisition

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

you have the biggest hardon for fret access i've ever seen, and that CT has 28 frets i think, so i mean, tap away at them. it's hard to play with your fingers that high anyway.

well what good is having frets that you cant reach? i honestly think 24 is plenty so if i can reach those its fine...but you cant reach even those unless you have nasty long fingers, which i dont.

eh, cosemetics and tapping, i rarely ever play that high with my fingers, it's just impractical, and what are you really going to be doing up there in a band situation?

it shouldnt mess up your intonation any more than the rest of your bass has...so i dont think number of frets has an affect on that, it can always be adjusted...

and i like to play up there in all sorts of situations. when im lookin and just wnana mess around myself...when im taping or something and wanna play something like fur elise (at least my shitty version of it). and in a band situation...a slide to a high note, a quick tapping sequence in a little transition type thingy (like in the flecktones song that they played on conan that nitro posted), and an intro style riff (like in Soul to Squeeze by the chili peppers)...i also like to have the entire fretboard in another octave (though really i only use the D and G and occasionally A strings up past the 12th or 14th fret.

besides, these are just personal preferences, what i like to do...you dont have to use the high frets (that you may or may not be able to reach anyway)

CTs are always made to balance incredibly well, and they weigh less than 7 pounds on average.

as for the frets, it has 29. At least the first 24 are all easily accessible, so the extras are just a bonus.

if you need 8 strings to make yourself sound good, then you need to go back to the basics. and if i want someone with more than 5 strings, ill hire a guitar player. i hate 5+ strings
