Then what is Tims part because it doesnt sound all that bad. And what is "41 police"? Is it just another name for the song?fatjack wrote:what you are hearing on the album is tim reynolds guitar partsBeauford33 wrote:Ive seen conversations about a "41police" and Im just wondering aboput that. I wonder why Lillywhite did that. 41 would sound so good with both the Dave and tim parts audible with the rest of the band.Ranting Thespian wrote:Well, they always joke about (even Steve) that Steve Lillywhite always would tell Dave or turn Dave's guitar down on the albums, lol. Dave takes it lightheartedly. They are good friends with Steve Lillywhite.

Tim's part on Crash and I think it's what Dave plays on "41Police"Beauford33 wrote:wait, is that timmys part or daves plus the 5E 7E 7A 5A?bugman96 wrote:Beauford33 wrote:Then what is Tims part because it doesnt sound all that bad. probably wanted everyone to think that timmy was dave. Either that or Steve just thought that dave sucked. Or maybe he wanted the band to shine more then Dave. The world may never knowDavy28 wrote:I wonder why Lillywhite did that. 41 would sound so good with both the Dave and tim parts audible with the rest of the band.Ranting Thespian wrote:Well, they always joke about (even Steve) that Steve Lillywhite always would tell Dave or turn Dave's guitar down on the albums, lol. He probably wanted songs like Say Goodbye, DIDO, and Cry Freedom to be more electric so that they would be more like modern pop tunes.

They (dmb and Steve) have said that Steve turned it down so the other members can shine, and it wasn't just another guitar driven band. Also, yes, Tim plays somewhat of the orignal way of #41 (the *Police* name was off and on, since it wasn't set in stone). The way the original version is played, is the outro chords Dave plays, he picks those chords in a different way then how he plays the outro today. You really have to listen to it to get it.

I did notice that tim plays the outro ditty to transition from the verse from the chorus. its a cool sound, but I still wish daves acoustic part would shine through. Thats what I like about the LS version.
