playalong one of the best techniques for learning dave?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

playalong one of the best techniques for learning dave?

Unread post by shaggy » Wed Sep 28, 2005 7:44 pm

i do this all the time. although i have to say i listen to the song some before so i can get a feel of the rythm, make sure i have the chords down, and progression like for example i'll listen to lws version of captain some before so i can try to douplicate the progression i hear the best i can. i find this really effective also because it makes me a stronger guitarist than a lot of people i know that play especially because of the extended jams and also for ex. holding the the intro of "Seek Up" can be a toughy without any misspicks. anyone else do this often and find it very effective?

I like to, but just so I get to the point where I'm at the right tempo.

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": "I once saw this in a movie, it was about a bus that had to keep it's "speed" above 50, and if it's "speed" dropped, it would explode...I think it was called "The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down"!

There's software that allows you to play along but it slows the music down without losing pitch (is that the term?) that might help you.

I can't remember the name for the life of me though, it's similar to the CD tool that guitarist use that does the same thing except you get a visual on the lyrics, notes, etc.

You can slow down music in Audacity without it changing pitch.

I also try to play along and add some of my own fills in instead of just playing dave's parts.

i like to play along ... but i agree that you need the rythm before starting ... in my opinion, it also helps to find hidden notes, like hammers and stuff, that makes the song sometimes more challenging! ... but dave is already a lot of challenge!
