D A Em A sounds pretty good. simple, but good.

Actually, G should fit really really really well. But you say that it doesn't so I'm not sure what type of progression you're looking for. Another fairly standard chord that would at least be coherent with the others is Bm. One that isn't quite as normal and will sound way better than Bm (in my opinion) is F#, but if you're writing a song, you'd have to have the right melody to make that work. But if you use the F#, you can take that a million places: G# (which would take you to A or Bm probably), Bm, D, G...

Re: D>A>EM>???
looks like your in the key of D so you can play D-> Bm -> A-> G-> Em -> A - >D. that's a nice chord progression.blaze wrote:Im new to guitar and and can't figure ot what would sound good next after D>A>EM > ???? when strumming befour going back to D. It sounds ok, if you use certain voicings.. and you'll find that they are all ones which avoid only moving B->C on the transitions from {E G B} transforming to {C E G}. That's kinda subjective.. but Open Em to Open C is terrible because only the octave Bs get moved up to the octave Cs.. on the other hand, Open Em -> A-Form C is not bothersome.gravedigger wrote:that's what you got in music class.firedancer86 wrote:simple...
