new too much recording

Unread post by gregplaysguitar » Tue Sep 16, 2003 3:54 am

still haven't mastered the fine art of controlling the levels, and my pick up kinda sucks so it picks up alot of the muted strings, but oh well. This was just a one take kinda thing, my buddy plays the main rhythm (f# vamp) and I play all the little funky riffs. He sings too. So check it out!

wow that was pretty sweet dude...i've never heard a too much acoustic version, so it was cool to hear. i wish my friends would learn to play it like that....they all hate playing too much on guitar because they think its just "dun da dun" for the whole song....eh...

Hey Greg, that's great man.... I really liked the little fills you added. Great stuff, and the vocals were pleasant :D I didn't cringe at all!
He would go outta tune every now and then but recovered pretty quickly.

Was really good....i'm very impressed :!:
post some more post some more..

I just want to say how much I appreciate this board. Some places make you feel like an idiot for even trying, but I always see good helpfull comments on this board. Thanks again for comments, and we'll definetly post more when we get some recorded!

Sounded great man! I have been trying to get this song down better myself! Now I have some inspiration.

Also, I don't think I have ever heard a cover of Too Much on here!

Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on things over here, but school has been kicking my ass this semester. Life as a music major can keep you pretty busy. I've been playing with the singer of these songs all summer and we've got a good little catalog of song down, (my favorite being the stone, I like to start it off with some DD6 stuff and then bust out the low octave like timmy) but we've just recently bought a mixer and started recording some stuff. Thanks for all the comments. It's good to be back.

:D That was great! the vocals were pretty good, nothing horrible, but you can tell he doesn't have the biggest range in the world... but who am i to talk, mine's not much larger! haha.

It was really awesome! I like your little guitar licks. they fit perfectly.

My only criticism was that the jam was a little too slow... only by a tiny bit. It was good, sounded amazing, but i personally i fast really really up beat too much jam. The two just go hand in hand. (too much and fast jam that is.... )

But again, other than that it was incredible! :D :D

thats a good point and your absolutly right. We were trying to figure out a good way to "fill the sound out" so I went to the open chords and he played the little riff. We had originally been playing it the normal way, but when we played it together like that, it just sounded really empty. So I was trying to figure out a way to open up the sound. I had just figured out the chords I was gonna use and ended up playing it a little slow. Thanks for the feedback!

just listened to the cover, great cover. one of the best ones i've heard for a while on too much. the fills were good, vocals good, guitar was on all the way through, and you kept the rhythm. Sounded great.

nice interpretation...not what i had expected but i liked it's more laid back, easy-listening style just fine!

EDIT: just finished listening and decided it was a keeper...your song will forever live on my computer...
