Stand up help

Unread post by djvt81 » Sun Sep 11, 2005 10:56 pm

Im having trouble with the intro/verse to stand up. Ive tried to playing along with gianni's video, but had little success. Maybe a slowed down sequence like pat sometimes does would help. Is the fast picking similar to the stone b/c I can play that intro/verse with ease. any advice would be appreciated.

Try playing with the song. That's always the best way to get a rhythm of a song down.

Its more of a timing thing. first listen to the song, start playing slow at first then just keep the rythem in your head. It took me awhile too but after awhile it s cake

I had the same problem about the timing. Its not excatly like dave plays it but if you cut out the open stings (or zero) you will have something that sounds just like it. Thats what i had to do until i could final add back in the zeros. you just want to spend to long on them.

There are no open strings in the whole song.

stick to the one you find here. you can't play that song very many different ways. its just a walk down of a scale.

anyway, alternate picking, since no one told you, is picking down, up, down, up.

i assume that you're teaching yourself how to play guitar. and in that case, its gonna be really beneficial for you to get that down now. any songs you can, try just picking up downd up down up down.

and keep practicing. welcome to the boards! hope tosee you around more often. :D
