Raised-B.......I GOT IT!!!
Yeayah!
After weeks of struggling with buzzing strings and guages and all that crap, I finally got one of my guitars into raised B. In exultation, I played YNK for 15 minutes, belting out the lyrics for all those who cared.
DREAM LITTLE DARLING DREAM........I THINK I CAN I THINK I CAN.........THEN AGAIN, I WILL FALTER......

No, I was finally able to re-arrainge the strings correctly, in the 543212 pattern, without them buzzing profusely.

Very nice! If you plan to keep it in raised B tuning... you should let us all know how that affects the neck...or maybe just me. Would the overall tension of that string combination differ from a standard set?

The only problem is the high B string, with it lower then the F# and D strings it sounds a little weird, but not enough to detract from the music.

Its only bad on the guitar if you try to tune a standard string arrainged guitar (654321) up to raised B. The strings will break and/or the neck will be damaged. You have to rearrainge the strings to 543212.

I'm a bit confused about what you mean by rearranging the strings.Davy28 wrote:Its only bad on the guitar if you try to tune a standard string arrainged guitar (654321) up to raised B. The strings will break and/or the neck will be damaged. You have to rearrainge the strings to 543212.

I think so. So I just buy and extra B string, don't use my low E string and I'd be set. Right? Also, whats the tuning then, since I think I get how the strings go?grock wrote:use the fifth string in place of the sixth. use the fourth string in place of the 5th. etc... then for the high E you just use an extra B string in place of that. so the order on a normal guitar is 654321 but on raised B you would use 543212. get it?

raised B tuning is absurd...that's just a ridiculous concept...leave it to Dave to further use his stance as a well known guitarist to influence guitarists to do stupid things...

come people just find some brains and learn to play it in standard...
I'm Josh: sometimes known as Steve
agreed. ynk sounds just as good w/ a capo at 2, and sol isn't that hard in standard.fatjack wrote:excellent callgcom007 wrote:raised B tuning is absurd...that's just a ridiculous concept...leave it to Dave to further use his stance as a well known guitarist to influence guitarists to do stupid things...

In YNK, strumming the open strings with the intro/verse gives it fuller sound in raised B.
