cubase sx problem PLEASE HELP

Unread post by blaze » Sun Sep 14, 2003 7:59 pm

OK Im trying to record a solo over some basic chords in cubase sx. I put the chords on on track 1, thats great. but when I try to record the solo track 1 comes out my speakers and into my mic. when i play play the two tracks there is a time delay and I can hear track 1 a bit behind or ahead of track 2. Know what I can do to fix the problem???

there are these things at radio shack or any other little electronics store that sell these adapters that so you can hook two different outputs into one jack. so what i do is hook my speakers (which have their own output volume) and a pair of headphones. so then all i do is put on the headphones and turn down the speakers. if your speakers don't have their own volume control, then you have to unplug your speakers and just hook up some headphones. its a pain, so my advice would be to get some speaker w/ volume ctl so you can turn them down and listen to track 1 in your headphones. hope that helps

I think what you're talking about is called latency. It happens if you don't have a real expensive sound card. I'm not sure why it happens, but I guess there's just too much bits and numbers for your sound card and computer to move around...and it gets too busy and causes the delay. You should be able to move the different tracks around though, over the timeline, and make them fit. (Makes sense?) I've never used cubase so I can't tell you how. I use a free program called audacity...it's full of bugs (at least for mac) but it gets the job done.

Maybe I didn't explain this too good...oh well...I did my best :)
