Say Goodbye variation??

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Say Goodbye variation??

Unread post by PlayLikeDave » Sun Sep 14, 2003 9:31 am

I was playing around with Say Goodbye tonight and it started to remind me of another song, Lover Lay Down. Not cuz of the words, but the chorus was similar. I kept hitting the bass note on the second chord, and it was like the Crash chord that is used during the chorus of LLD. So in stead of 4244, I played 4x245 and it sounds so much fuller. I like it. Tell me what you think...

peace

EDIT: The crash cord sounds better if you play it the same way from LLD. The 4xx4, 4x24x, 4x245 progression.
I love you oh so well, like a kid loves candy and fresh snow.

You're right, they are similar. Not the exact same, but I can hear the similarities, definately.

you know......i' ve always played "say goodbye" with the 4x245 chord, i think it just sounds right. i have a lot of dave and dave and tim bootlegs and it always sounds like he's playing that instead of the whole 44 thing. try it, acoustically it sounds right to me. i've never seen dave play "say bye" live though  .

I have not seen it played live either. I want to see D&T play it more than DMB. And next time I go to any DMB show or D&T, I am so gonna have a girlfriend there with me

Good luck, thats like the one song you never play to your girlfriend if you want to score eventually.

GASP!!! Who said anything about scoring, but I just want my gf to be there with me...an intimate evening with D&T...A little Crush, add some Crash Into Me, top off with some Lover Lay Down...That is a concoction for some lovin'....Naughty, Naughty minds...Just another reason to like D&T

Thats what dave likes about D&T concerts; as opposed to a full band show, which is like a group orgy, a D&T show is more intimate, like a candle light dinner.
