DMB and the Superbowl
DMB and the Superbowl
This is just speculation so take it for what it is. This past year DMB has become more involved in sports. Stand up is used in Tiger Woods '06, Carter and Dave were interviewed in Sports Illustrated, and the band did a spot for the NFL. It is my prediction that DMB may be featured in the half time show during this coming superbowl. The fact that they're going to be touring this winter makes my suspicion even greater. I do have mixed feelings because superbowl performances usually suck and I don't want DMB to be dragged to that level of mediocrity. On the other hand it would be cool to see DMB up there. Any thoughts on this? Am I crazy for putting these facts together?

there has only been one good major event performance ever, in my opinion, and that was U2 at the 2001 super bowl. if dave did that they would make him play american baby, and all the pyrotechnis and what not. i think it would be alright, but when you're throwing in the towel for those performances, use britney spears or someone like that. don't use good bands for that shit.
hosting the oscars is like winning the heisman trophy. no matter how you do in the ballgame, or whatever, they can't take it away from you. and even if you kill your wife and an ex-waiter, they still have a hard time taking it away from you

It might actually make me want to go to the most overrated sports event ever

Yeah I guess the t.v. station and the event coordinators for the Super Bowl needed somebody more "stable" than psycho Janet Jackson after her nip slip.carter29 wrote:It might actually make me want to go to the most overrated sports event ever

Paul was great, I can't believe how good he sounds after all those years, it really was HIM singing too, not a backing track.

Yeah McCartney was great. I just don't want to see DMB doing it. Although its probably inevitable since one day they will reach that same plane as these world wide acts such as U2 and McCartney.c_tietze wrote:Yeah I guess the t.v. station and the event coordinators for the Super Bowl needed somebody more "stable" than psycho Janet Jackson after her nip slip.carter29 wrote:It might actually make me want to go to the most overrated sports event ever
