Del and Andy, we should meet up Sunday night. I have this psychoass girl on facebook begging me to tailgate with her, and hopefully you two have grown to like (or hate me) enough to pull her off when she tries to rape me!
In all seriousness though, it would be fun to say once "yea I hung out with some kids I met on the internet!"

if they hadn't released everyday and busted stuff you wouldn't be saying that. if they said sometimes they think their shows blow when the only albums the had out were UTTAD, Crash, BTCS and the LWS you wouldn't say that.

I don't know, I think they still have it in them. When I went to Vote for Change last year at Penn State, Dave was going crazy and was jumping around and the band was pulling out awesome jams. He broke strings twice during that concert!!!
If that's not energy I don't know what is because everybody was on their feet absolutely screaming
I also think some people are taking what dave was saying about the setlists a little too seriously... I mean it's Dave. only time I've seen him say something serious is when it has to do with Politics or something that is a serious issue. I'm sure he's not like "whatever our setlists suck sometimes so get over it" on purpose. I think he would realize that would piss a lot of old fans off or whatever.
Honestly I don't want to hear Tripping Billies or Two Step every concert or they will just get old and it will defeat the purpose of going and hoping you get a song you really like. If they always played what you want to hear your not going to like it anymore either. Try playing the same song on your iPod every day and see if you still like it.
Also, for the people who said this summer would be there last DMB concert, I'm sorry for you especially since I still think the band can play and will come up with some good stuff.
Another thing, the notion that they just want to make money is bullshit. They are already freakin millionares every single one of them, and if they were interested in money they would just put a recording on during their live shows and pretend to play. I mean Dave drives a fucking subaru for the love of God. He's not rolling around in Escalades and carrying around 10 pounds of jewelry all over his body. Those are the guys interested in money.
I just can't believe the negativity I saw in some of these posts in this thread... Kind of depressing really. I mean I would just think if you loved DMB as much as the next guy you wouldn't quit on them because of one stupid album. But whatever. It's no skin off my back reallly and I don't have to hear all the bitching and moaning anyway. They are just some band anyway? Right? That's why you started listening to them anyway, right? Just some stupid band that wouldn't matter over time.

there are some things about DMB i still enjoy. however, the live shows dont do it for me anymore. Didnt enjoy everyday, didnt enjoy stand up. Busted Stuff was better than those two but seemed flat compared to LWS, excluding You Never Know (which still ranks in my top DMB songs). its not like ive completely given up on the band that will never happen, i will still check out their new stuff when it comes out, and if they are around when i have the time and money to catch a show i will attend. they use to be the highlight of my summer, but i am into other bands that i enjoy more. they have definitely made a change, as far as their newer stuff goes, and it doesnt do anything for me.

I can understand that. I mean it happens you don't have to love a band forever or always listen to them/attend their live shows. I mean it happens a lot I use to listen to bands back in the day I never thought I would get over but they started sounding different or just not doing anything different and things change, opinions and tastes change.wkpggrvn2001 wrote:

I don't know. I've been listening to DMB for not nearly as long as a lot of people on here, probably like 3-4 years and not heavily or concert going until 2 years ago, but I can't see myself not being as excited about DMB our their concerts or of whats to come.
I know you said you are going to see what they are going to come out with in the future, and thats a good attitude to have with the stance your taking, cause who knows maybe some of that DMB magic will come back to you one day and you think it would be great to go see them one summer evening.
I guess the reason I mostly made my previous post is I just love their sound and to me no matter who I've listened too out of all the thousands of ipods songs and everything, nothing even comes close to what DMB is. The sound, the quality, the feel of their music just keeps me coming back even if I have heard songs over and over. Even Stand Up, which isn't that great for DMB standards, is better then the last 3 CD's I bought.
I just feel passionately about this band more than anything. For like 3 weeks I had Luther College in my CD player a while back and I remember everytime I heard Ants and Seek Up I would get goosebumps so badly I would shiver. In fact I even started crying because Ants live like that moved me so much. I know thats Dave and Tim, but that same feeling is in the band too, and sometimes even more apparent in the band!! A good example is any version of LIOG or The Stone. I just haven't heard of anything as powerful as this band before and I can't get enough of it.
Maybe one day it will start to wear off, but the feelings and the emotions that I get from these songs never will. Because no one else can do what DMB does. Sure there are other bands like DMB, like they play similar music, but no one can BE DMB. It's like how no one can be you, you are yourself and your own unique individual. No matter how hard someone tries you are who you are and no one can replicate that. It's what makes things special.
And if that one day comes where I start to get a little used to DMB and their sound, I know that maybe I won't go to live shows, but I'll never skip them on the iPod and those feelings will always come back to me. Good music never dies. Ever wonder why your parents ever listen to all that old stuff from the 80's and 70's? It's what they grew up with and it is the music that has touched their lives in someway. To me that's what DMB is, they are more then just a band they are an inspiration and have a sort of special place in my heart. I mean Dave Matthews is what inspired me to learn to play guitar!
Sorry for the long post, but for anyone with doubts, I just hope one day one of your favorite DMB songs will come up on the iPod and you'll just smile and what makes DMB so special will come back to you. That feeling will come back to you.
"Good Music is good music. Everything else can go to hell" - Dave Matthews
