Digging a Ditch D+t

Digging a Ditch D+t

In the old 99' d+t days, rather 3.14.99, the jam they do.
I've always played it 3,5, 2(starting with middle). Everytime i try and start with my pointer at 3,5, 7 i always end up with my pointer at 2nd fret and then i have to get my pointer back on the G. It doesn't feel right. I like playing it my way. Anyone know how dave plays it?
