---->YES DAMMIT IVE GOT A ANOTHER TAYLOR/MARTIN QUESTION!

Unread post by sticksANDstrings » Sat Sep 13, 2003 8:05 am

I forgot to say that the one reason that I'm swaying towards the taylor is because I want to retrofit it with the Expression system electronics that are scheduled to be available (according to their website) in the future. The most important requirement is the NT neck so that means it has to be a 1999 model or newer. Plus the bolt-on NT neck design is so friggin awesome. Dovetail joints are kind of limited in their adjustability and ease of repair/replacement, whereas the Taylor neck can simply be taken off and replaced if need be. Fuggin sweet indeed. By the way, I played a D-28 and D-35 at my local shop and every single Taylor, even the 300 series guitars, kick the dick off the Martins. I will say, though, that Martins do have a slightly deeper, softer, and, consequently, better overall tone. But in the end it doesn't matter because the Taylors have the Expression System electronics, which makes the guitar sound amazing. No matter how you adjust the electronics, THERE'S NO FEEDBACK!!!! WOOOHHHOOOOOOO!!!! (I hereby give all you Martin worshipers to shoot me down...........be gentle........)

From what I know about taylors/martins, martins just have a warm, bassy tone, taylors are more of punch and kick that I like..

good question, but i think the answer lies in the fact that his subject said it was a question, yet he didn't ask one...

Alright you bastards, I know I forgot to ask the question, so my question is WHY THE HELL DO MARTINS SUCK SOOOOOOOOOOO BAD???? It's a paradox really. They feel like big hard pieces of cow shit in your hands when you hold em, but they cost a lot of money? It doesn't really make sense to me. Taylors are better, so why do people buy Martins????

that is the most ridiculous thing ive ever read.

martins make quality guitars. theyre not my favorite, but they are good guitars. ive played a few that i thought were incredibly good. still not up to taylor quality, but beautiful sounding none the less.

ive never really held cow stuff in my hands either.

people buy martins because they like them. some people buy them because theyre their favorites. some people buy them because theyd like to branch out and buy something they dont have. then theres the obligatory bandwagoner.

im a taylor man myself, and im defending martin against a comment like yours. whats that tell you?

Sarcasm is bliss. I was just trying to get a rise outta shane! I can't believe that you actually defended Martin! Seriously though, Martins are kind of minor compared to Taylors in every way, except maybe their slightly more "matured" tone.
