Are you using the same melody as the first verse? If not try that....but yeah, i hear ya..writing lyrics is over rated!

anyway, yeah, the second verse is usually the hardest, but it depends on how you lay out your song. sometimes it comes pretty easily, sometimes it doesn't, but what trippin suggested with making it the same melody as the first verse is usually normal, but it constricts the following lyrics again unless the lyrics came out first. sometimes it's the music, sometimes it's the lyrics, but it never really gets any easier as you go on, because each song isn't the same, but you begin to understand your own process a little more so it goes faster.

as for guitar writing, i usually try to keep the 2nd verse the same as the 1st for uniformity, otherwise it becomes muddled and confusing for the listener and myself.

For me, the hardest thing is first finding the topic for the lyrics that fit my mood while playing it. Also, the first line is hard, and then to try and keep with the same meaning halfway through the first verse is hard. Once I get that, actualy is downhill from there.

usually when i write something, the first thing that i write isn't the first verse. if the first thing i write isn't the chorus, i usually try to make it the second or third verse. the reason is because its usually kinda specific, and you can go back and write a general first verse and explain yourself w/ the specific verse in the second or third...but of course, im not very good at this yet.
that makes some sense though. i may do some switching around.Appsoldier wrote:usually when i write something, the first thing that i write isn't the first verse. if the first thing i write isn't the chorus, i usually try to make it the second or third verse. the reason is because its usually kinda specific, and you can go back and write a general first verse and explain yourself w/ the specific verse in the second or third...but of course, im not very good at this yet.

my hardest thing is putting the lyrics to the music..I don't hear them together (very often). I usually have to write lyrics, then I have a selection of licks I choose from, and try to fit them together..it's a very hard process to get, and I've only gotten one done..
