Code: Select all
E:------------------------------------------------------
B:---------------------------1--1-----------------------
G:-3--3---------3--3---------0--0---------3--3----------
D:-x--x---------x--x---------2--2---------x--x----------
A:-1--1---------1--1---------3--3---------1--1----------
E:-3--3--1--3---3--3--1--3---3--3--1--3---3--3----1--3--
Would it be correct to assume the first chord is something like a B/G and the second is a C/G?
I'm just trying to figure out something. Any correction/advice is greatly appreciated in advance

The first chord is Bb/G- not B

that first chord is actually a g minor, because dave plays the d on the b string, making it a complete g minor chord. the way it stands now in that tab, its not even a chord.
the second chord is just a C. different voicing, thats all.

Ok. I use chordfind.com to "find chords" (*gasp*) and sometimes they ain't right
Can I ask you how Dave plays the D on the B? Is he playing 3-1-x-3-3-x ?

Are you sure it's not a Bb/G chord? That's what it looks like to me...

well no, the minor triad of g is g, bb, and d. not just bb. 3-1x3 is not technically a chord unless you add the d, so it becomes 3-1-0-3, then it's a g minor.

dave uses this formation of the minor chord all over the place. #41, captain, recently, raven... and he uses that exact Gm in two step and the stone.

Well, x1x33x is how I play a Bb chord, cause I have problems with the stretch. Adding the G up there, I'd think it was a Bb/G chord. But I see where you're coming from.
But... that 3 in the G string doesn't belong to the G chord does it?

G major: G A B C D E F# G
so G minor is made up of G (1st), Bb (flatted 3rd), D (5th).
3 on the G string is a Bb (flatted 3rd).
